What is a PEO?

PEO 4 Me is a Professional Employer Organization that utilizes a co-employer arrangement to provide individuals, independent contractors, and small groups with advanced cost-effective, benefits and payroll capabilities. 

Our mission is to provide affordable, comprehensive healthcare benefits and payroll solutions to independent contractors and smaller groups that cannot otherwise participate in a group insurance plan due to size.  We believe these entrepreneurs deserve the opportunity to have great healthcare benefits despite their small size and can benefit from being able to join a pool of similar individuals and small groups.

What is the Membership form and why do I need to fill it out?

The membership form allows you to have access to join CSJB (Central States Joint Board) Health and Welfare Fund and receive comprehensive benefits, similar to a large group employer. 

What is my start date (is the start date at PEO or with my current job/employer?

Your “start date” is the day you sign up for the PEO.  Your benefits will begin the 1st of the following month.

What do I fill in for the monthly contribution and where do I find this?

Your contribution is the premium amount you pay based off your tier.  (ie. Employee Only, Employee and Spouse, Employee and Children and/or Family coverage)

Union dues are $27/month.

How long is the contract?

It is an annually renewable one year minimum contract.  

Can I get COBRA coverage if I leave?

This plan is not COBRA eligible. 

When did the CSJB Health and Welfare Trust get established?

1955

Who regulates the trust?

ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act).  A federal law that sets minimum standards for most voluntarily established retirement and health plans in private industry to provide protection for individuals on these plans. 

When did the trust start using BCBS of Illinois PPO network?

The partnership was established in 2004.

When did the trust start using Optum RX (Prescription Card)?

The partnership was established in 2010.

How do I set up payments?

Once approved to join the PEO, we will automatically debit through an ACH transfer $2,000 on the 15th of each month.  Your premium is paid out of this monthly debit.  The money is also used to pay W2 taxes, as well as union dues.  You will be returned a W2 wage with the remaining funds by the 25th of each month. 

How do I become a W2 employee?

Payroll Solutions LLC is the payroll provider for PEO 4 Me.  Payroll Solutions will calculate your W2 taxes, and transition you into a W2 employee of PEO 4 Me. 

Why would I want to be a W2 employee of PEO 4 Me?

Paying taxes as a W2 employee will reduce the amount of estimated taxes you will need to pay as a 1099 independent contractor.  

Why do I pay $2000 a month, which is more than my premium payment?

 To have access to the group benefits of a PEO, you must be a full-time W2 employee and have a taxable salary from the company.
